Review collection at scale: how QR codes + AI drive customer ratings
How Starboard uses QR code scanning, multiplatform routing, and AI drafted reviews to help Indian businesses collect more customer reviews with less friction.

Short answer
Most businesses know reviews matter. Few have a system for collecting them. Starboard is a review collection platform that turns a QR code scan into a review on the right platform. Here is how it works and why it works.
The problem
Local businesses in India understand that reviews drive foot traffic. But collecting them is a manual process. Staff have other priorities. Customers are unsure which platform to use. A restaurant customer might post on Google when the business needs Zomato reviews. A clinic patient might skip the review entirely because they do not know Practo exists.
The solution
QR code at the counter
A printed QR code sits at the checkout counter or reception desk. The customer scans it with their phone. No app download. No login required. The scan takes them directly to the review flow.
Multi-platform routing
The system detects the business category and routes the customer to the correct review platform. Restaurants go to Zomato. Clinics go to Practo. Retail shops go to Google or Justdial. Hotels go to TripAdvisor. The business decides which platforms matter most, and the system handles the rest.
Staff attribution and leaderboards
Each QR scan is tied to the staff member on shift. Live leaderboards surface who is generating the most reviews. This makes collection a measured activity rather than an afterthought. Staff drive scans because they can see the results on the board.
AI drafted reviews
Some customers want to leave a review but are unsure what to write. The system generates a suggested draft based on their rating and business category. They can edit it or post as-is. The draft is grounded in their actual experience, not generic filler.
Real-time analytics
The dashboard shows reviews collected, platform breakdown, staff performance, and trends over time. The business can see which team members drive the most reviews, which platforms get the most traffic, and where the gaps are.
Why QR works better than verbal asks
Asking a customer to leave a review puts them on the spot. They agree and forget. A QR code is passive. The customer scans when they want to. The friction is lower: scan, tap, submit. The conversion rate from scan to review is higher than from a verbal request to a review.
The AI angle
The AI drafted reviews are the multiplier. Without them, a fraction of customers who scan write a review. With a suggested draft, that number increases. The customer reads the draft, edits one or two sentences, and posts. The review is authentic because it is based on their actual rating and visit. The AI removes the blank-page problem.
Results
Starboard is live at getbetterreviews.online and serving businesses across India. The QR-to-review flow removes the friction from review collection, and the leaderboard mechanic gives staff a measurable reason to keep driving it. Businesses using the system report a steady increase in review volume across all connected platforms.
